The Laboratory for Biomedical Neurosciences (LBN) of the Neurocenter – Institute of Clinical Neurosciences of Southern Switzerland (NSI/EOC) – is located in lab spaces rented from the Foundation for Cardiological Research and Education in Torricella-Taverne, Switzerland.

At the LBN, we are dedicated to translational research by a multidisciplinary approach with the aim to improve our understanding of neurodegenerative brain diseases with emphasis on movement disorders and brain cancer. For this, we study the pathological mechanisms in order to find solutions to stop disease progression and improve the well-being of the patients.

Another purpose of the LBN is the education and training of young scientists to foster their career in basic and clinical research. We perform our studies on cellular disease models and patient biopsies.

The LBN was created in 2013 by the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC) and is supported by competitive research grants, by charitable organizations and by benevolent donors.
