The Laboratory for Biomedical Neurosciences (LBN) of the Neurocenter of Southern Switzerland is located at the Swiss Institute for Regenerative Medicine (SIRM) in Torricella-Taverne, Switzerland.

At the LBN, we perform translational research by a multidisciplinary approach in order to improve our understanding of neurodegenerative brain diseases with emphasis on movement disorders. Above all, we want to find solutions to stop the disease progression and so improve the well-being of the patients.

Another goal of the LBN is the education and training of young scientists and so to foster their career in basic and clinical research. The LBN is currently hosting fourteen scientists in four research groups, we perform our studies on animal and cellular disease models.

The LBN was created in 2011 by the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale and is supported by competitive research grants, by benevolent donors and by charitable organizations.
